What are Government Documents?

The NOAA Central Library is part of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) which offers free, public access to government documents. This program can trace its history to 1813, when a Congressional Joint Resolution ordered that a limited group of government publications be distributed to libraries outside of the federal government by the Librarian of Congress. Since those beginnings the program has grown to over 1,200 member libraries in the public, academic, and federal sphere, each providing free and unlimited public access to a wide variety of information resources produced by the federal government.

NOAA Central Library joined in 1993 and currently maintains a selective, NOAA mission-specific collection. To learn more about what NOAA selects and offers access to navigate the above tabs. Follow the below links to access more information about the FDLP.
